Crafted in Echizen, a region renowned for its lacquerware tradition, the Echizen Wooden Lacquer Bowl is designed for both beauty and daily use.
Its gently flared rim makes it easy to sip from, while the sturdy base provides stability. Larger than a typical miso soup bowl, it’s perfect for hearty soups, rice, or side dishes.
In Japan, lacquerware is often seen as something special—reserved for formal occasions and too delicate for daily use. I used to think the same until I came across Shitsurindo’s bowls.
Finished with Echizen Koshun (Hard Lacquer), a durable lacquer developed in collaboration with Fukui University, this bowl is dishwasher-safe(!!!), making it a practical choice for everyday use without sacrificing tradition.
Each one is carefully hand-lacquered in multiple layers, resulting in a flawless, even finish and remarkable durability. It’s hard to believe they are painted by hand.
