It’s strawberry season here in Oregon, and that means it’s time to hunt down the sweetest berries around. This past weekend, I picked a mountain of Hood strawberries at a U-Pick farm my friend raved about. Hood strawberries are an Oregon-only variety known for their rich flavor, deep red color, and juicy texture. I used to think nothing could beat Japanese strawberries, but but wow—these were unbelievably juicy and sweeeet.
After giving some to my neighbors (because that’s half the fun of seasonal abundance), I still had more than enough to make jam. And of course, I reached for one of my favorite kitchen tools—our Stainless Steel Fine Mesh Skimmer.
Despite its delicate appearance, this skimmer is surprisingly sturdy. The super fine mesh is perfect for skimming off foam while making jam, and I’ve also used it for broth, oil, and other daily cooking tasks. It’s a quiet little hero in my kitchen drawer—simple, effective, and beautifully made.
The jam turned out absolutely delicious—like summer in a jar. 🍓
